Tuy rang bon be cung anh tam,
Co ke hien lanh co ke pham.
Nhieu thot da danh nhieu su loi,
It an thì lai ít nguoi lam.
Xa hoa o rong nen kho,
Tranh cạnh lam hon boi tham.
Kìa thung nọ dai nao co dut,
Nguoi hon ta thiet moi hau cam.
All men are brothers living by the four seas -
yet some are meek and gentle, some act wild.
He who talks much says much that will offend.
Eat less and you'll need fewer feeding you.
Spendthrifts live high and fall on days of want,
Contestants fight and feud because of greed.
A tug-of-war drags on, for rope breaks not.
Give way a bit - all will be well again.
